This Week in Baseball History: 09/21/08
In 1907, Honus Wagner & Fred Clarke each stole four bases - including a steal of third and home by Wagner - in a game against the Giants. I wonder if Wagner credited the feat to his aversion to tobacco? In 2007, Albert Pujols became the only person in major league HISTORY to hit 30 homers and have 100 RBIs in each of his first seven seasons. Hope you stay healthy Prince Albert, because you are giving us something very special to watch (don’t take it for granted baseball fans). Also in 2007, Brandon Phillips joins the 30-30 club along with David Wright and Jimmy Rollins. Thanks to the fantastic site National Pastime for the historical help.
